To help encourage members who have completed basic paddling skills and would like to progress to whitewater, I plan to hold a grade one (1) whitewater skills weekend on 24-25 February on the Shoalhaven River at Coolendel.  The aim is to learn the initial paddling techniques for approaches, turns in the current, and movements from current into and out of eddies. This is also some river reading practice to learn water features and some hazards. At the end of the weekend we hope to have you undertaking all the turns understanding when to do paddling actions. It is essential you have practiced a wet exit prior to starting and preferable that you have paddled a whitewater creek boat prior to the weekend. Please expect to possibly capsize when learning, you will need to be able to swim confidently. The weekend is open to whitewater kayaks, canoes or a packraft (not preferred but possible) as it is the paddling skills that are the priority and not so much the type of boat.

Note: Due to instructor to participant ratios the weekend is limited to eight (8) participants.
