This is a placeholder.  Expressions of interest will be open for registrations from late September.

This trip will cover Lake Yarrunga from Bendeela Camping and Picnic Ground to Fossickers Flat. The lake consists of two flooded river valleys (Kangaroo and Shoalhaven Rivers) and is approximately 35km of flat water held by Tallowa Dam which is roughly mid-way between the two locations. This is one of the River Canoe Club paddling highlights of the year.

This is a remote, wilderness paddle. The only vehicle access is at the Bendeela Camping and Picnic Ground and at Tallowa Dam and there is no mobile phone reception anywhere. At times the paddlers will be 15km from the nearest road or walking track. Paddlers must be self-sufficient and capable of paddling a loaded kayak the required distance. For your safety and the safety of others, your ability and equipment will need to be confirmed before you can be accepted on this paddle. For anyone not suitable at this time, the club will be running a beginner friendly version of this paddle around March 2025.

There will be a three day (two night) and two day (one night) option available.

The three day paddle will start at Bendeela and paddle to somewhere around Beehive Point for the first night’s camp (Friday night). The afternoon of the first day will be spent exploring or relaxing at the lake. On the second day this group will paddle to Tallowa Dam and meet any paddlers paddling for two days. The whole group will then paddle through the Shoalhaven Gorge to Fossickers Flat. On the third day, the three day paddlers will paddle back to Bendeela. Daily distances for this group are: day one, 11km with optional 10km excursion; day two, 25km; day three, 34km.  It may be possible for people to finish at Tallowa Dam which will reduce the third day’s paddle to 14km.

The two day paddle will start and end at Tallowa Dam. It will meet the three day paddlers on Saturday morning and paddle through the Shoalhaven Gorge to Fossickers Flat for the Saturday night camp. Distances paddled by this group will be 14km each day with an option to extend by 10km on the second day.
