Cooks River Clean Up 2021

Under Construction

Please join us for the Cooks River Clean Up and Paddle Against Plastic on Sunday 14 March 2021 (and lead up events…!)

Over 3 tonnes of waste was removed from the Cooks River environs at our 2019 event. The February 2020 clean-up efforts resulted in 13.8 tonnes!!!!
In total, we’ve now had more than 600 members of the local community taking part, generated great broader and ongoing interest. The success of the events has been made possible thanks to the support of our generous sponsors. We expect this coming event will be even bigger.

The aim of the event is to continue raising community awareness and clean as much as possible of the Cooks River – historically considered one of the most polluted waterways in Sydney. Teams of community members will be working both on the water and on the banks of the Cooks River. Some live music is being arranged at the event hub, along with interactive displays from the different partner community groups.

Event planning is now well underway, with the expected location being Ewen Park and making use of the new accessible canoe launch facility. More details are available on request.

We’d welcome your involvement and support
There are significant efforts required to deliver a successful event/community initiative of this scale and importance. We are looking for environmentally conscious community-minded organsiations to join us on the day in the form of general participation and in any other ways that you may consider appropriate – eg helping promote the event,  encouraging team members to come along, assisting with equipment etc. More than anything though, we’d  just love to see you and your team members at the event on the day.

Keen to become an event sponsor?
Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated. In return for being an event supporter, we will recognise you through :
·Inclusion of your logo on event posters and associated event communications.
