Woronora River
The Woronora River runs from the Illawarra Escarpment to the Georges River at Como. From its junction with the Georges River, it can be paddled to a group of rocks known as the needles, about 10km each way. This is as far as the tide reaches and there is a small waterfall and some freshwater pools (be careful on the slippery rocks). The club usually launches from the Bonnet Bay boat ramp. The shoreline is a mix of houses and bushland as far as Woronora Village. Loftus Creek runs into the Woronora River at Prince Edward Park and is worth paddling at high tide. For the last 3.5km very, few houses are seen, and the river feels remote with tree-lined hills on each side.
