Kings Billabong – Mildura, Vic
Kings Billabong is a wetland wildlife reserve of international significance bordering the Murray River at Mildura, Vic. For any paddler passing through Mildura, it is well worth the visit, especially for those that love to see birdlife. Since the late 1800’s this reserve has been part of the Mildura irrigation system and is supplied by water from the Murray. For this reason, it is maintained with a reliable water supply that is replenished as fast irrigators use it. The consistent water levels attach a wide range of wildlife in huge numbers. Pelicans, Black Swans, Herons, Egrets, Grebes, Cormorants, Spoonbills and various ducks are just some of the birds you are likely to see. Kings Billabong is a great place to paddle out, observe and relax for a few hours. It is easy to access and even has several kayak launches around to make getting onto the water a breeze.
