Canberra – Paddling the Nation’s Capital
Each year the River Canoe Club heads down to Canberra for the Balloon/Light Festival
Watching the hot air balloons take over at sunrise, from the lawns of parliament house, then skimming across the waters of Lake Burley Griffin surrounded by paddlers – it’s all pretty special.
In recent years, Canberra has also been putting on a great light show in the evenings – think Vivid, Canberra style.
Club members sometimes make their own accommodation arrangements, while there is often a good crew setting up camp at EPIC or similar – allowing for a fun and cost effective weekend.
