You may have seen in the club newsletter we have chosen a date to kick off the trip leader pathway.
Thursday 1st May 7:30pm at the Club House (include an online option for those who cannot make it in person)
We will kick off with John’s Wards very popular how to lead a club trip presentation.
This first evening will cover:
- First Step you have in idea how to contact [committee@rivercanoeclub.org.au]
- Getting your trip in the calendar, emailing to the club mailing list and getting people to register
- Preparing a float plan
Homework prior to the 1st May:
- Choose a couple of dates when you are available in the future
- Choose a place to paddle, (markup a route on google maps with start and finish location and distance)
- Choose a start and finish time
- Have a think about what hazards may be present on your proposed paddle, Wind, Temperature, Tides, Boat Traffic
- Think about the minimum skill levels required to participate See competencies here
- Choose a paddle well within your paddling comfort zone this could be just on the Cooks river or further afield. Keep it simple if it is your first trip.
