Andy Kayaking in Cooks River

The Last Swallow of Summer

ANZAC day traditionally marks the end of summer – in this trip – The Last Swallow of Summer – we will be departing the clubhouse and paddling to the hallowed kayaking fields of Maianbar. Along the way we will cross Botany Bay, morning tea at Kogarah, head out to sea past Point Solander, lunching at Boat Harbour, before the last push across open water to Port Hacking – est distance 30 kms.

At Maianbar, festivities will be held on the main balcony, and I expect drinking, eating and cheering will occur.

On Sunday, the 30 km return journey will be made.

This is for experienced open water kayakers only.

Those with less experience are welcome to join me with the options of departures from Yowie Bay or Wally’s wharf.  If weather conditions are poor, the trip will start at Yowie Bay.

Guidelines are as follows:

1. Everyone should be a member of the club. If you’re not a member then you can attend if you have a trial membership or take out a single event entry and pay the associated fees. (This ensures you are covered for insurance purposes)
2. You will need to wear protective footwear, and suitable clothing that will likely get wet during the event.
