Shipwrecks of Homebush Bay
Ahoy there me hearties! Join the River Canoe Club on this swashbuckling adventure exploring the shipwrecks of Homebush Bay on the Parramatta River.
Setting off from Ermington in the morning, we will paddle east before turning into Homebush Bay.
There we will cast our eyes over the wrecks for any remaining treasure (while staying in our kayaks).
Most of the ships were defence vessels built in the early 1900s. Each has its own story.
After inspecting the wrecks we will leave the bay and continue east.
We will paddle to Putney where we will stop for a break and lunch. Then it is back to Ermington.
Total paddle length will be about 15km and suitable for novices.
Participants must be able to wet exit and swim.
Please note if you choose to hire a club boat, you will need to access the clubhouse at Marrickville and transport the boat to Ermington yourself.
