A River Canoe Club community adventure with Bike Marrickville and the Wolli Creek Preservation Society.
Join us for an easygoing urban adventure combining cycling, kayaking and hiking through some of Sydney’s best connected green and blue spaces.
We’ll meet at the River Canoe Club clubhouse at 7:30am and set off on two wheels. The first leg is a relaxed ride along the Cooks River cycleway, linking into the GreenWay and winding our way to Iron Cove. We’ll stop for coffee at Haberfield Rowers before returning to the clubhouse.
Back at the clubhouse we’ll swap bikes for boats and head out for a paddle on Wolli Creek. We’ll explore the mangrove-lined waterway, keeping things social and taking in a side of Wolli Creek that many people never see.
After a break for lunch at the Clubhouse (BYO), we’ll finish on foot. The final leg follows the Two Valley Trail through the Wolli Creek bush corridor to Bexley North, one of Sydney’s most surprising pockets of urban bushland. From there we’ll catch the train back towards Tempe and round out the day with an optional drink at the Concordia.
Come along, try something different and discover just how much adventure can be packed into a small corner of Sydney.
Leg 1: Bike ride to Iron Cove and return (~20km)
Leg 2: Paddle Wolli Creek (~4km)
Leg 3: Hike via the Two Valley Trail to Bexley North (~6km)
BYO: Bike, suitable footwear, lunch and a sense of adventure.
