Parramatta River – Greenwich, Docks and Maritine History
Join us on Sunday 2nd August for a relaxed paddle exploring some of the most facinating waters of Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River, west of the Harbour Bridge. This is a great opportunity to learn a bit of the areas’s history, get some pointers about crossing the harbour and explore many water access only locations.
We’ll launch from Greenwich and paddle around 3 islands, explore an historic dockyard and then make our way east toward the Bridge, passing several picturesque bays. We’ll stop for lunch before returning to Greenwich. Participants should be able to paddle at 5km hour, be able to manage boat traffic and wake when launching and crossing the harbour.
The total distance will be approximately 15km. This is a social paddle, and there will be several stops along the way to hear the 30 quite interesting things that I have discovered about the area.
We’ll meet at 9:00 am at the launch spot in Greenwich, will be on the water by 9:30 am and should be finished by 2pm. Further details of the launch location will be provided on registration. You must be registered to participate in this paddle. For registration see JustGo here: https://paddleaustralia.justgo.com/workbench/public/events?ref=CBF49D96065EC95772CAB6400B3CEC2B30AAF603
Registrations close at 5pm on Friday 31 July
