River Canoe Club – Australia Day Long Weekend – Murrumbidgee River

“What a canoe is made for!”

Nanangroe Reserve to Gundagai – 100km over 3 days (Murrumbidgee Canoe Trail)

What: River Journey 100km of Moving Water over 3 days + skills training

This trip will build on your flatwater, moving water and camping skills. We will be packing all of our gear into our boats for the 3 day journey down the river. We will negotiate some gravel races and low grade rapids along the way.

Before we start the journey, we will practise some moving water skills at the Nanangroe rapid and also solve a car shuttle.

This is also a preparation trip for the Clarence River Canoe Trip planned for Easter.

When: Saturday 23rd to Tuesday 26th January 2021

Where: Nanangroe Reserve south of Bookham NSW, (https://goo.gl/maps/SdnGY6wA2LNK61G38), nominally 3.5 hours from Sydney

To Gundagai, NSW (4 hours from Sydney)

Cost Indication:

Members – Standard Club Gear Usage Fees apply ($50)

Non-Members – Single Event Membership (PNSW) plus Standard Club Gear Usage Fees

Itinerary:

Friday 22nd JanuaryAfternoon – Drive down to Nanangroe Reserve

Saturday 23rd JanuaryMorning – Moving Water Canoe Skills

Saturday 23rd January – Afternoon – Car Shuttle to Gundagai (~3 hours)

Sunday 24th JanuaryPaddle from Nanangroe to Jugiong 32km (4-6 hours)

Monday 25th JanuaryPaddle from Jugiong to Sandy Falls 41km (5-6 hours)

Tuesday 26th JanuaryMorning – Paddle from Sandy Falls to Gundagai 28km (3-4 hours)

Tuesday 26th January – Afternoon – Drive back to Sydney
