Georges River Social Paddle
Looking for a relaxed weekend paddle with great scenery and a little help from Mother Nature? Join us for a leisurely journey from Picnic Point (precise location details are provided on registration) along the Georges River, with the incoming and outgoing tide expected to provide a helpful push at around 2 km/h in both directions. This is a pretty waterway within easy traveling distance of the club house. We will meet at 9:30am to be on the water by 10am.
We’ll head upstream (with the tide) towards Chipping Norton, enjoying a mix of peaceful bushland, waterfront homes, and river views along the way. Our destination is Grand Flaneur Beach (12 km each way), with options to turn around earlier at Garrison Point (10 km) or the A34 bridge if preferred. Such will coincide with high tide so after we will paddle back to out start point with the tide. This paddle is suitable for less experienced paddlers
Please note that some sections may have fast-moving boat traffic (we will keep out of the way to the side of the river), and there may be sailing boats operating on Chipping Norton Lake
Fur further information on this location see the destinations page on the club website
