Explore the beautiful waterways of western Sydney!
You might have paddled on the Georges River but have you ever wanted to know what the Georges River looks like upriver of Liverpool Weir? On Saturday, 5 October the Club is heading to find out!
We’ll be exploring the upper reaches of the Georges River. Expect to find secluded beaches, beautiful forests and a whole stretch of Sydney you never knew about. A great way to kick off the long weekend!
- When and where: The plan is to meet at the River Canoe Clubhouse just before 9am, or at the paddle launch spot (Simmo’s Beach, Georges River) at 10am.
- Transport: You will need your own transport or self-arranged carpooling. It’s approximately 40 minutes drive time from the Clubhouse.
- Distance: The best estimate of paddle distance is around 10km–so perfect if you want to explore and working towards longer distances. We’ll aim to be off the water by around 1pm.
- Recommended Craft: There will be a few rocks and trees along the way, so we recommend plastic kayaks.
