Early Start (to get parking) and the Start of Daylight Savings!!

Akuna Bay Paddle and Picnic, total distance between @ 20-30 km (20km to Hallets Beach (most likely picnic destination) / 30km to Hungry Beach (if paddlers are keen to extend paddle and conditions favourable) returning via Jerusalem Bay.

Meet at 7:30am to avoid holiday traffic and get a park.  We plan to be on the water ASAP and before 8am returning by 4pm (allowing plenty of time for any unexpected delays).   The proposed duration is generous to keep things relaxed and avoid stress about timing for getting back…

Plan is to explore the waterway, see the spring flowers along the shore and check out the rocky outcrops of Jerusalem Bay.  It is intended to be a longer day of paddling, with beach stops for coffee and lunch.

The forecast for Sunday so far looks good.

Important:  Phone reception at Akuna Bay and in the area generally, can be unreliable.

Conditions on Sydney waterways can be windy and choppy; paddlers need to be comfortable negotiating boat wash and remain alert to boat traffic at all times.

This paddle is suitable for more confident paddlers (F1/F2) capable of manoeuvring their kayaks, and able to perform deep water rescues.

Note: this paddle will require participants to supply their own kayak (>4.5m), paddle, life jacket, kayak skirt, paddle leash and other necessary paddling equipment or to organise to borrow the necessary equipment from the club yourself (separately).  People without the correct gear will not be allowed to participate – if you have any queries or concerns about your gear, please let me know in advance.    And, don’t forget to pack your lunch, snacks, bring plenty of water etc…..

The registration cut-off is midday on Saturday 4th October.    Early registration would be appreciated! https://paddleaustralia.justgo.com/Workbench/i/r/public/EventsAndBookingsPublic/details/C24FAB5AE68AA5F5D2931790200EE946205E0F73/
