This will be a relaxed paddle on the Georges River and paddlers should expect to paddle a little over 20km. The tide may assist with the paddle.

The group will meet at Garrison Point reserve off Henry Lawson Drive at 9am to be on the water paddling by 9:30am.

This paddle will head upstream past Coot Island and through Chipping Norton Lake and continue the Georges River further upstream passing Liverpool station and under the M5 motorway. The precise turnaround will be determined on the day based on conditions and paddle group capabilities. There may be one or two portages required to bypass weirs in the upper stretches of the Georges River.

To participate you must be a River Canoe Club member (trial members included) and be able to paddle 20km at a pace of 5-6km/hr. You should be in a seakayak of 4.3m or longer or a canoe able to paddle 20km at 5-6km/hr.

All paddlers will need to be able to transport themselves and their boats to the start point. Club boats are available, for members, but you will need to arrange to pick it up and transport the boat yourself. A $20 contribution towards maintenance and repairs will apply.

You must register to participate in this paddle. Please don’t just turn-up.  Register using EventBright here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/georges-river-upstream-of-garrison-point-tickets-909722914727?aff=ebdssbdestsearch
